Performance Bio
DeAnndra Glenn has been active as a performer and wedding musician since moving to Charleston, SC in 2003. During her career she has performed at over 150 wedding ceremonies. She has also subbed for the Charleston Symphony and she is currently a member of the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach.
In 2010 Mrs. Glenn was hired along with a few local musicians to accompany the Mannheim Steamroller at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. She also more recently performed for Charleston Stage at the Dock Street Theater as the solo violinist in the company’s rendition of “A Christmas Carol” and “The Wiz” for their 2011-2012 season.
DeAnndra Glenn studied violin from Dr. Margaret Nichols Baldridge at the University of Montana where she completed her Bachelor of Music in 2003. She continued her study of the violin from Lee-Chin Siow, violin professor at the College of Charleston, from 2006-08.
Teaching Bio
DeAnndra Glenn is a full-time private instructor and performer. She has managed her private violin and viola studio since 2005. She became certified to teach the Suzuki method in 2011 when she received her Suzuki Violin & Viola Book 1 teacher training from East Carolina University.
Her advanced students have gained acceptance into the Lowcountry Region Orchestras, the South Carolina All-State Orchestras and the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry. Some have also participated in concerto competitions.
Teaching has always been an important aspect of DeAnndra Glenn’s professional life. Mrs. Glenn taught strings for the Charleston County School District for seven years. Her final four years were spent at West Ashley High School where she worked as the orchestra director. During her time with the school district, DeAnndra Glenn conducted the CCSD Honors Orchestra for five years and she also spent eight summers teaching CCSD’s gifted and talented orchestra program for middle school students (SMAART).
